These steps are hand-built in Britain with meticulous attention to detail to ensure total reliability over many years of rigorous use. The core structure is manufactured from welded heavy gauge steel box section and bar. While the everyday maximum load is an impressive 150kg, the design has been rigorously overload tested to 200kg to guarantee structural integrity. To provide superior stability during use, this model specifically features outboard wheels mounted onto a cleverly splayed base frame.

Uncompromising Safety Features

Workplace safety is seamlessly integrated into this design. The steps are fitted with a highly effective hand lock lever anchorage; once locked, the front protective grey non-marking rubber feet rest firmly on the floor, securing the unit in place. For added peace of mind, a safety warning bar is fitted to protrude in front of the steps. This bar is directly linked to the hand lock lever mechanism, actively deterring users from attempting to climb the steps while they are still in ‘mobile’ mode. To further highlight these mechanisms, the safety bar and hand lever are finished in high-visibility safety yellow, contrasting cleanly with the main structure’s red epoxy finish.

Smooth Mobility and Compliance

Manoeuvring these steps around your facility is a breeze. The front features two swivel castors with 100mm diameter rubber-tyred wheels, while the rear utilises two axle-mounted 200mm diameter wheels. All wheels are fitted with roller bearings for consistently smooth transit.

Once in place, the user is provided with a generous platform measuring 540mm by 500mm, alongside a comfortable tread width of 490mm. To ensure your team is always informed, a caution notice is fitted directly to the unit to remind users of the correct operation procedures, and a Health and Safety at Work information sheet is supplied with every purchase.

What safety standards do these meet?	Our BSI Redhill range is manufactured to meet EN131-7 standards for mobile leaning ladders and steps. They feature high handrails and kickboards to ensure full compliance with UK Health & Safety regulations.
What is the maximum weight capacity?	Most of our standard mobile warehouse steps have a Safe Working Load (SWL) of 150kg. This accommodates a single user plus tools or stock items. Always check the specific product data sheet for heavy-duty variants.
Do they arrive assembled?	All of our Redhill warehouse step units are delivered fully welded and ready for immediate use. Larger warehouse steps, usually 10 tread and above, will be supplied in 2 parts for on site assembly, this is for transportation reasons.
How does the braking or safety system work?	Our mobile steps use either a side hand lock lever and anti ascent bar or weight-activated retractable castors. Both systems ensure that once the user applies weight or engages the lock, the rubber feet grip the floor securely to prevent movement.
Are they safe for mezzanine floors?	Yes. Redhill steps are designed with non-marking rubber feet and high-quality castors, making them suitable for standard warehouse concrete, mezzanine flooring, and commercial surfaces without causing damage.
